Our Service Partners

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton. This organization provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and education in the United States. Roughly about 40% of donated blood comes from the American Red Cross. Other services they provide are tissue, blood, plasma, nucleic acid testing, and research. At Saint Francis University, twice a semester, we hold a blood service drive all day where members from the community and on campus can come to donate blood or plasma. We usually have over 50 people that come out and dedicate an hour of their time to donate.

Alex' Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation was founded by Alexandra Scott's parents in 2005. Alex Scott was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer. Along with her brother, she opened a lemonade stand in her front yard to raise money for childhood cancer. In the first year, they raised over $2,000, and decided to do the lemonade stand annually. Sadly, she passed away at the age of 8 in 2004. The mission is to raise money and awareness for children with childhood cancer by finding new treatments and cures.

On Saint Francis University's campus, we hold a lemonade stand on campus by selling lemonade and other baked goods. New members have also set up lemonade stands for their semester service projects as well.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

MADD was founded in 1980 by Candace Lightner when her daughter, Cari, was killed by a drunk driver. Their mission is to "stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking." The organization has helped with legal laws about drunk driving and alcohol laws in the United States.

At Saint Francis University, we hold an event where students can wear 'drunk goggles,' and drive a golf cart around on our campus mall to deter them from driving a car drunk.
